VOLUNTEERS
 
 The York Suburban School District welcomes those who wish to volunteer their time and talent to benefit the students of the District.  In order to volunteer, authorization must be granted by the appropriate District administrator.  In many cases, legislative acts require background checks and clearances before an individual can be approved to volunteer.  If you have been directed by an administrator to obtain clearances:

Act 153 of 2014, requires that all current employees and independent contractors obtain and renew criminal background checks and clearances every five years.

Act 126

Act 126 of 2014, mandates that all school district employees, who have direct contact with children, complete 3 hours of training every five years on child abuse recognition and reporting. The training is transferable among school districts in PA, so if you have already had the training, you will just need to forward a copy of your certificate to Sue Grove at York Suburban Education Center.

Act 168

Act 168 of 2014, mandates employment history reviews for new employees who have direct contact with children that are hired by school entities. Before being offered employment, a job applicant must complete the Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release form identifying the name, address, telephone number and other contact information of:

 

The applicant’s current employer;


The applicant’s former employers that are school entities;


The applicant’s former employers where he/she held a position that involved direct contact with children (care, supervision, guidance or control of children or routine interaction with children).

York Suburban School District is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative administrator with strong leadership skills and experience in curriculum and instruction to serve as Assistant Superintendent

 

Grades K-12
Enrollment - 3100

 

12-month position available immediately but will wait for selected candidate.

 

 

Qualifications:

PA Letter of Eligibility

Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills

Knowledge of curriculum development & implementation

Ability to analyze data & use to drive instructional planning

Knowledge of special education

Prior administrative experience

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

 

The York Suburban School District uses Substitute Teacher Service (STS) to provide teachers for our schools.  

 

In order to substitute within the York Suburban School District, you must be registered with STS if your are certified to teach.

 

To register with STS:

  • Go to www.thesubservice.com
  • Click on the Job Posting tab
  • Scroll down to the Job Postings tab and click on the Substitute Teacher Tab
  • Choose which Substitute Teacher position you would like to apply for
  • Follow the instructions fo uploading of your documents

Once you have completed the required components of the online application process, the STS Representative assigned to the York Suburban School District will contact you.  At that time, an appointment will be set up for you to complete the next step of the application process.

GUEST TEACHER PROGRAM

 

STS FREE Program (Limited Time Offer)

 

If you are not certified to teach but have a four (4) year degree, you can take an online training program that will prepare you for teaching in the classroom as a day-to-day substitute. The online program is a cooperative program through STS and LIU 13. To learn more about the Guest Teacher Program, please:

LIU's Program

LIU 12 offers a Guest Teacher Program for a fee of $55. This program is accepted by STS. Please note that all Guest Teachers must work for STS to work for the York Suburban School District. For more information on the IU's program please go to www.iu12.org.
