High school provides many challenges for your child. Please  talk to your child to see how s/he is coping. Communication is a powerful tool for parents and school staff to support the children as they deal with the demands of high school.

In an effort to support parental decisions, if you decide to send your child to school, I will encourage him/her to remain in school - unless there are observable or measureable signs of illness.

The incidence of Pertussis (whooping cough) has increased markedly in the past 30 years. There have been 74 cases in York County since January 2010 - predominantly in the 5-18 year age group. Talk to your child's doctor about their level of immunity. If their last pertussis vaccine was 6 or more years ago, they could be at risk for the disease. Parents are also at risk for pertussis - talk to your own doctor about getting a Tdap vaccine!

Reminder for 11th grade - Private physicals were due in nurse's office by September 30, however, they are still being accepted. It is our belief that the student will benefit most by having a physical with their family physician who has access to medical records and knows the student. Remember, students must have a physical to obtain a drivers permit or a work permit. You can have all three forms completed at one time. Please remind your child to bring the completed school form to the nurse's office as soon as they return to school to avoid losing the form.
