The York Suburban Middle School has a School Wide Effective Behavior Support (SWEBS) program. SWEBS is a process for creating safe and effective learning environments for all students using researched-based strategies. SWEBS is a proactive approach to teach, monitor, and support positive, appropriate school behavior.
The York Suburban Middle School SWEBS program (GOT PRIDE) works in conjunction with the schools Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (PRIDE – People Respecting Individual Differences Everyday). The three school rules GIVE RESPECT, OUTSTANDING EFFORT, and TAKE RESPONSIBILTY are outlined with expectations in all areas of the school.
GOT PRIDE
Give Respect
Outstanding Effort
Take Responsibility
The school staff places a strong emphasis on teaching and modeling expected behaviors. The school rules are being taught and practiced daily. Please ask your child how they show - ‘I GOT PRIDE’.
GOT PRIDE Cards – Students receive a GOT PRIDE card when a teacher, staff member, cafeteria member, or bus driver observes a student demonstrating expected behaviors. Students are being recognized for “doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do.” GOT PRIDE cards are then entered into weekly and monthly drawings where students have the opportunity to earn prizes.
