ABSENCES
If your child will be absent from school please call the school at 717-885-1260. Select Option 2 to report a student's absence. When the student returns from being absent they have 3 days to turn in a signed excuse blank. If the excuse is not turned in within 3 days the absence will be unlawful.
After a student accumulates 3 unexcused absences, the school is responsible to:
- Develop a Truancy Elimination Plan in partnership with the student and parent/guardian.
- Notify the district magistrate and/or Children and Youth Services of all subsequent unlawful absences.
If a student accumulates 10 absences (excluding preapproved educational trips, death in family, or religious holidays), the school will require that all subsequent absences be excused by a physician.

TRIPS
A student is excused for up to five (5) school days per year for an educational trip. A trip form is available in the school office or on our website and must be completed and APPROVED TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE TRIP. No trips will be approved during the first 10 days and last 10 days of the school year, or during standarized testing windows.
