The Stage Band plays big band music, primarily in the Jazz idiom. The group performs for assemblies, concerts, contests, and various civic affairs. Membership is open to the following instruments: trumpet, trombone, saxophone, string bass, piano, drums and guitar--musicians who have above-average proficiency on their instrument. Membership, by audition, is open to students in grades 9 through 12 who are members of the band or by approval of the music department. It must be emphasized that previous experience in playing Jazz is not necessary, but an ability for interpreting this type of music should be evidenced in the audition.
